In the Converse County District Courtroom, before a capacity crowd of family, friends, and colleagues, F. Scott Peasley was sworn in as District Judge for the Eighth Judicial District. Judge Peasley was appointed by Governor Mead in June to fill the vacancy created by Judge John Brooks’ retirement. Chief Justice E. James Burke presided over the ceremony, and remarks were made by several guests: Governor Matt Mead, Frank Peasley (attorney, former State Representative and Peasley’s father), Dr. Steve Peasley, M.D. (Peasley’s brother), retired District Judge John Brooks, Lori Emmert with the Judicial Nominating Commission, and Nate Hibben with the Wyoming State Bar. Justice William U. Hill delivered remarks on behalf of the Wyoming Supreme Court and welcomed Judge Peasley to the Wyoming Judiciary.
Prior to his appointment to the judiciary, Judge Peasley, who was raised in Converse County, was in private practice for 16 years in Douglas with his father. During that time, he also served as a part-time deputy with the County Attorney’s Office where he handled misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, and most recently, civil matters.
