Do I need a lawyer?

The law allows you to take care of your legal problems without a lawyer. Many people handle their own legal matters. Other people choose to hire a lawyer to help with everything in their case or just to help with certain parts, like writing a paper for court.

Hiring a lawyer, or finding one who can help for free, might be the best choice for some people. But you are not required to have a lawyer if you don’t want one or can’t afford one.

Every case is different. You should think about your own situation and decide what works best for you.

Public Library Resources

Many Public Libraries offer wonderful resources for individuals looking for legal help. We encourage you to visit or call your local public library to see what may be available.
